Hong Kong will host the Social Media Week Hong Kong (SMWHK) for the second time this year.
A series of conferences and online platforms is scheduled to take place across the city from 25-27 September 2012 and all future SMWHKs will now be held in the month of September.
In addition to Hong Kong, 12 other cities are simultaneously participating in this global event including Barcelona, Berlin, Bogotá, Chicago, Glasgow, London, Los Angeles, Sāo Paulo, Seoul, Shanghai, Torino and Vancouver.
SMWHK showcases the most prevalent social media topics and dialogue from a range of industries and focuses on the theme of 'Empowering Change through Collaboration'.
This event next month will give attendees a chance to explore the social, cultural and economic impact of social media as well as encourage communities to connect on a local level.
Platform for local online community
Social Media Week Hong Kong has become an instrumental platform for the local online community and this programme is now live at www.socialmediaweek.org/hongkong.
Next month, attendees will be able to learn about how social media and its tools can create ROI for their businesses; and how it can be leveraged to spread the power of the brands and messaging.
The upcoming event will also throw light on why companies take on corporate social responsibility and "social good activities" and how social media has changed the landscape for consumers and marketers alike.
Although most of the events are open to the public and are free of charge, pre-registration is required to attend SMWHK.
"Leveraging the city's dynamic and thriving digital scene across all industries, SMWHK continues to grow with the support of homegrown thought leaders and talents, connecting the community through meaningful dialogue and the diversity of social media which has become a universal language," said Louise Huckfield, managing director, Cohn & Wolfe-impactasia, a dynamic communications agency focused on public relations.
