Cargo handling services at Vietnam's largest international airport are seeing significant improvements following the implementation of a new IT system that lessens paperwork.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport recently implemented a new Cargo Operations Intelligent System (COSYS) that is also used in other major airports in the region.
The new system simplifies the cargo handling procedure for agents and carriers by automating the procedures and integrating the system with the cargo reservations system of various airlines. This, in effect, improves customer services, encouraging customer loyalty.
The cargo system was implemented for the airport by NIIT Technologies, a global IT solutions provider which also developed the system for Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS). For Vietnam, NIIT Technologies deployed the system for Tan Son Nhat Cargo Services, the international air cargo terminal operator at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
"Tan Son Nhat Cargo Services can now cut down time spent on cargo processing and bolster operational efficiency as the system's intuitive user-interface enables the company to handle all agents and airlines from a centralised platform," said Anil Mehrotra, senior vice president & head of Asia, NIIT Technologies.
NIIT Technologies said the system, which is built on open architecture, reduces paperwork and duplication of data, making processing easier for cargo handling agents.
NITT Technologies and SATS have a technology partnership where NITT supports the COSYS solution and offers it to other customers. Thus, COSYS is also deployed in airports in Taiwan, Beijing, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Bangalore.
